My focus as an art educator is to preserve right brain thinking: to help students retain their passion for ingenuity and individuality. Helping students discover their creative power is fundamental to enhancing the growth of cognitive, emotional, and psychomotor pathways. I believe that encouraging expressive development and innovation is vital to raising resilient, aware, and intelligent individuals.
My lesson plans explore topics that affect the community at large. Integrating art with social, environmental, and cultural issues allows students to develop an awareness of the world they live in. I want my students to build an enduring appreciation and love for the arts and for life itself. It is my hope that all my students are able to apply what they have learned in my classroom in the real world.
My goals as an educator are: To provide my students with the highest quality education, with a strong focus on classical technique in a variety of media. To create a safe environment for my students that promotes compassion and understanding. To provide my students with a positive role model who inspires them to ask questions and continue learning about the world around them. To leave a legacy that my students will remember; that I was a passionate and knowledgeable teacher who made art (and learning) fun.
